          2020 Annual Exemption Applications

           Will County Supervisor of Assessments advises of changes for 2020 Exemption Renewals due to Public Act 101-635

          In response to COVID-19, Governor Pritzker signed Public Act 101-635 into law on Friday, June 5, 2020. This bill allows all qualified exemptions for levy year 2019 payable in 2020 including: Homestead Exemption for Persons with Disabilities, Standard Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities, and Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption to be automatically renewed and processed without re-application for 2020 payable in 2021.

          Rhonda Novak, the Will County Supervisor of Assessments, will be acting in accordance with this new bill.

          NO RENEWAL FORMS will be sent for the 2020 Levy year. ALL eligible Seniors and Disabled persons or Disabled veterans who received exemptions for the 2019 Levy year will automatically receive the same exemptions for the 2020 Levy year, payable in 2021. All exemptions will be processed WITHOUT re-application.

          IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

          The Will County Board has approved the Property Tax Payment Relief below:

          50% OF THE FIRST INSTALLMENT IS DUE JUNE 3, 2020; AND 50% OF THE FIRST INSTALLMENT IS DUE AUGUST 3, 2020.
          50% OF THE SECOND INSTALLMENT IS DUE SEPTEMBER 3, 2020; AND 50% OF THE SECOND INSTALLMENT IS DUE NOVEMBER 3, 2020.

          The Will County Supervisor of Assessments office governs every aspect of the assessment process, acting as a central resource for county residents.  We believe our primary responsibility is to the taxpayers, and we are committed to ensure that all county residents receive fair and equitable assessments.  We are also dedicated to making sure eligible taxpayers are receiving the beneficial exemptions they are entitled to; all with the utmost courteous and respectful service. The Supervisor of Assessments office is also committed to promoting taxpayers education and involvement in the assessment process through open discussion forums, informational meetings, and community outreach endeavors.  The valuations for 2019 are for the assessment year of 2019, payable in 2020.  This means, the assessment you are looking at is for this year's upcoming tax bill.  The tax rates for this year have not been established yet.  The Supervisor of Assessments does not establish tax rates, however, you can search our site for the most current assessments under our PIN Search or Address Search
